thanks yank
I went to a car gathering this last Sat night, lots of early mustangs and a 65 Ranchero with a 289 in it. all the V8 mustangs and the Ranchero exhaust manifolds all sit within 1/8" of the side rib on the shock tower. that tells me i should have no problem now with my 1 7/8th clearance on each side. and my motor sits the exact same heigh as the Ranchero in the engine bay, all the mustangs sit about 1-1/2" higher than mine and Ranchero. so im back on track and after vacation ill be back at it to finish up the project. BTW, Im keeping the Granada exhaust manifolds on it now.

disc brakes swap
adding power steering
I like it. The reason the Grenade has offset shock mounts is to reduce or elimnate wheel hop. You probably knew this. It works pretty well, At least ford thought so for their hi perf mustangs in 70.
Nice car!

well it seems like forever since i got to work on my car, but ill be back at it Sun to work on the e-brake cables since i modified the tranny mount and have a different rear end. I have decided to go with the Ididit steering system since its a straight shot to the steering box.

after doing much thought and looking a different options, ive come up with a good conversion for the E-brake. I know there are brackets you can order, and im sure they work fine, but i like to do it myself.
here is what i did.

this is the tranny mount for the in line 6 with the e-bracke lever attached to it. (orriginal)

I used the same swing bar and made a new mount that just bolts onto the tail shaft of the C-4

side view

added some tube spacers to get the pivot point centered.

bolt it to the tail shaft

and ready to paint and hook up

Hey; that's a damn good idea! I'm doing this currently but using a '75 Maverick front and rear end in a '60 comet. The maverick uses the three bolt upper joints as well as the comet.

Well; I'm having a harer time at it than you......
I got the 8" rear in no problem, but the maverick lca's are about 2" longer than the Comet's. The bolt spacing on the uppers is all wrong and the upper control arms appear to be too short.
I have '64-5 Falcon lca's and upper ball joints coming in tomorrow to compare.
Maybe I should have just got the Fairlane........

well i did it! ive hated thoes export braces since the day i got the car, so today, they are history.
Ill get a monte carlo bar and make some subtle looking exprot braces out of 3/4" round tube with adjustable ends. but i like the look right now.
I cant imagine they could do much, they are just spot welded on, came off way too easy to do any good.
