Only other comment at this time: Was the car on jack stands when the connectors were welded into place?

If so, what measures were taken to insure the subframes were in correct alignment, read: "Square"and true to the shop manual crash diagram?

It is very possible, since a large section of the floor had been removed, that subframes might not have been in alignment which in turn means the rear axle might not be suarge with front end. When that happens the car "dog tracks" which leads to excess wear of the mechanical parts of the drivetrain, etc.

Then again 30 years in the machine trades has left me unable to simply nail two boards together without first squaring the ends, planing the thickness, etc., etc. etc.

Sounds like too much work but if the subframes/axles are not square it could become $$$.

I know a GM mechanic that put a Camero subframe under his 48 Ford. He just rolled the subframe up to the car and started welding. Never bothered to check to see if the front end componets were in alignment before welding.

Went to my nephew to have the car aligned. Wasn't anyway to correct the caster as the parts were already against the end of the slot. The slot had to be filed another 1/8" to get the caster angle within reason.

After I pointed out the error the car's owner he started measuring the installed subframe in relationship to a level concrete floor. He had weld the subframe into the chassis in a way that it was twisted in two directions. Which helped explain why the car had handling problems?
