Went to Advance auto yesterday for a can of header paint and a C4 filter.I get down there and type of guy who you would think would have a clue waited on me.He says" what do you need?"-1970 C4 filter. "what engine?"-HUH? Why?- ok,289.Now he says" HUH??I don't have that application. What car?" 1963 falcon - Now he's totally lost.He goes,ok got it.Comes back with an oil filter.Needless to say,he rang up the header paint fairly well.

By the way, there is a company that makes alternators that resemble and are the same measurements as the original Falcon generator.

I see the product mentioned now and then in Rod & Custom and Street Rodder Magazines. Odd that the maker doesn't advertise in Ford publications.

I've seen those! It's a PowerMaster product. I was thinking of going that way, but I plan on driving this quite a bit and it's easier to hit a parts store and find a 65-89 Ford alternator than it is to send the cool one back and wait if something goes wrong! They're pretty spendy, too. I'm trying to keep the little bird simple and budget friendly.

It is true, I haven't seen them in amy of the Mustang mags... Jegs and Summit show them.

I recently hosted a fundraiser carshow where I work. Part of the entry was a chance to drive on our five mile oval in your car. Not wanting to be left out, I drove Hope -all 65 wheel horsepower of her- around our oval!

Here I am just leaving the gate!

Here is a before and a "during"... I don't think I will have any afters: I will be constantly finding stuff to tinker with.

The wild plumbing in the engine compartment - I don't think the person who did this owned a tubing cutter... or a bender for that matter:

Here is where I am at. This is just after I bent and installed the lines. I will be removing them again pretty soon to sandblast and paint them (I detailed the F-O-R-D on the rocker cover, too!):

I have also made a custom plug wire loom to dress the engine up a little, but I haven't painted or installed it yet.

I have been lucky .. there is an advanced auto close to my house that has two youn 18 or 19 y/o kids that are absolutely awesome.... they both are throw backs to another age.. hey both have fiero's and that they built with themselves into some bad AZZ machines.. 1 has a 350 and 1 has a duperchargeed 3.8 that eats the 350... I have come to trust both of them and they always check the other parts sources (Jeg's etc) to see if any of them have the parts cheaper if it is a major purchase. there is a autozone right next door with exactly the type people you were talking about working there.

What is really fun is when you carry a part into the store that you took off of the car and hand it to the guy and he goes into computerland and comes back carrying a completely different part. They always say the same thing "well thats what the computer says it takes". Sometimes I want to kill the computer too!!!
