I know every one talks about match porting the Intake runners. I picked up a used edlbrock manifold and as i was sand blasting it, i noted that the water passages and the exhaust port for warming the carb had a lot of build up from have a lip on them. would it be a wast of time to match them up for a smooth flow?
can't imagine any performance gain from it. sure the exhaust port isn't egr? if it's the egr passage, blocking that off can net some gain since you won't have exhaust taking the place of the air needed to mix with fuel to make hp.
The term "Intake Porting" means exactally that, to clean up the INTAKE PASSAGES of the head. Nothing to do with cleaning out the coolant passages in the manifolds, heads, etc.
If your cooling system/EGR passages are clogged then you have build up throughout the cooling system and EGR system. Cleaning out the cooling system will improve cooling. Cleaning out the EGR system will make the system operational, something most Ford EGR systems stopped being a month after the car was bought!
