Default Turn Signals

Pulled my instrument cluster to detail it and now that I've reinstalled it my turn signals aren't working. Any ideas?

You can access the wiring diagram online which will give your vehicle wire locations and I would just back up....next time definetly label the wires

I have a diagram and all of the wires are back in the proper place. I spent time double checking that last night. I guess it's possible I pulled a wire and broke it. Could it be that something is wrong with that constant voltage regulator on the back of the cluster?

Please explain how you came to the conclusion that the CV could have gone "bad" by your pulling out the insturment pod? I'm doing a study on the "logic" people are coming up with.

Considering the simple fact the only thing related to the turn signals in regards to the insturment pod is the indicator light that pretty much eliminates the problem being there.

After more studying I understand that the CV regulator is not what's wrong with my turn signals. It is however bad now as my gauges are not working now as well. I had worried that it my be bad because the work area was very tight and I had bent the output terminal over a little while reinstalling. I have since confirmed it's failure with a multi-meter. This is my first Ford so I didn't understand it's purpose at first so that is why I thought it might be my problem, but further study has shown me my error in that regard.

In conclusion, I've decided that now is as good a time as any to go ahead and rewire the entire car instead of trying to patch it as I go. I've found several wires that are very brittle and I have the feeling it would be more work to repair than to replace. Plus this will afford me the chance to reroute the wiring and add some relays to certain circuits.

Why do you have to assume everyone should know this? I think you get off on cutting other people down. Jackass.

As I stated in another post, I'm trying to determine where these people are coming up with these off the wall ideas/logic.

Asking how they came up with their statement is not "trick", it's educational.

No, honestly, I think it is just you. Everyone here - except you - seems to be genuinely helpful. My parents and grandparents grew up and worked in the industrial age and through the depression, I worked in the shipyards as a stevedore and then a welder until I was 25 with some seriously rough individuals who had the same background. NO ONE treated anyone with the disrespect you treat others with. NO ONE comes into any field KNOWING how EVERYTHING works. My basic understanding of welding was that fire sticks two pieces of iron together. Not a single person in the yard ridiculed me or belittled me and all were all helpful no matter how "DUMB" they thought the question was. I don't buy the "rough treatment" BS. Maybe it was just you because they thought you were a jerk.

I am sure you are a talented mechanic, but you are a lousy teacher.

People do not come to these forums because they have vast mechanical knowledge. They come here for help and straight answers.

YOU and people like YOU are the ones who drive people away from this hobby and then bitch and moan because all of these cars are rusting away in a junkyard.

Enough of that. I will just assume you are an arrogant prick with a mouth larger than his talent since I haven't seen any photos of your magnificent work.

Ryan, I am sorry to have cluttered your thread with this and am glad you are stepping up and trying to solve the problem. good luck -Ed.

First off I have a pretty broad knowledge base with automobiles. I've owned cars from the 40's all the way up to my 2007 vehicle, I have however never owned a 60's vintage Ford. I only recently purchased the vehicle and am still getting to know it and all of it's idiosyncrasies. I also work in the automotive service industry, so I'm sure I've been exposed to much more "advanced" automobiles and technology than your precious Pinto.

Do me a favor, if you're not going to provide useful information please stay off of any threads I start. I'm not an idiot, but I am new to vintage Fords. You say I should learn about them and adapt to their technology before posting here, but where better to learn than from people that own or have owned them and can steer me away from the mistakes they've made themselves in the past.

Also, when insulting or belittling someone's intelligence or knowledge, I would suggest doing a better job of proofreading, it's "smirk" not "smerk".

For anyone else that's posted, thank you for the feedback.
