Ford FalconFord Falcon - With standard features such as the exhilarating 6-cylinder Barra 182 engine, Control Blade IRS (sedan only), Sequential Sports Shift (on the optional automatic transmission) and an Intelligent Safety System which boasts a multitude of advanced safety features, the Falcon XT is not only a driver's car. It's also a car that the whole family can enjoy.
I picked up a RRS manual conversion for a V8 1965 Falcon. I installed it and came to find that the passenger outer tie rod or tie rod sleeve was coming into contact with the rack itself, rendering steering impossible. Part of the issue is likely that it was an I6 that I converted to a V8, without changing the suspension. So during the installation I had to upgrade the spindles to those of a V8, for which I used a set of Mustang spindles. I had to get new outer tie rods to match the Mustang spindles.
It's about a year later and I'm rather annoyed that neither RRS nor the vendor through which I purchased have assisted in resolving the issue. Does anyone here have thoughts as to how I can resolve this conflict, besides reverting to a factory setup or purchasing another conversion kit?
When I can get to my e-mail I'll attach a picture.
What length sleeve did you use on the set up? The sleeves come in several lengths. If you were able to screw in the tie rod end "a good bit" then you have too long of a sleeve.
