Default question on trunk lip seal

I had to rebuild my trunk lip, that U shaped channel that holds the rubber seal, I'm ready to put the new seal in and not sure whick way to face the curved finger on the top of the seal. does it face in toward the trunk or out towards the fender?
thanks

It's a "seal", which direction do you need to point the lip of the seal to keep the water out of the trunk?

Hint: Pointing the lip toward the trunk keeps water in the trunk from getting out onto the fender.

well that is what i thought, but when i called Dennis carpenter help line, he thought it pointed towards the truck. didnt make sence to me, so i thought i would ask.
in the mean time, i found this to confirm it points towards the fender.

My past employment was in the industrial field, didn't take me long to notice that the lip of a seal points towards the fluid that you are trying to retain.
