I posted this in the general suspension and brakes forum. but ill do it here too. i was at the junk yard today with my buddy that works there and he told me about a 70s granada that was there. but the old man that owns the junk yard wants a grand for the whole car and wont part it out. so he said there was a comet for me to look at. its a 70s comet and has the 5 lug spindles and im guessing the 8 inch rear end. it has a inline six in it but would the suspension off the comet work for the conversion of my falcon from 4 to 5 lug.??? he wants 250 buks for the front and rear suspensions. im liking the prices on that.

srry guys im sure ya'll are tired of repeating your selves on how and what to swap and what fits. i just read through all the old threads. k so i know the comet will work. so i need the spindles, control arms which i probly wont use, what all should i get dealing with the steering ? drag link ackerman arm tie rods and center link. , i need the rear end with shock mounts. anthing else that would be helpful to me i should grab?? also i am planning on running 18 inch coys wheels. how do u think they will fit the front and what all hacking do i have to do to the rear. mini tub?, thanks for any answers
Use the center steering link for a 65 Falcon V-8 (has to be obtained from a donor car or from vendors dealing in Falcon/Comet parts). All the rest of the linkage is typical 64-65 Falcon and Mustang V-8.
Rearle is a bolt in but you will find the left rear shock mount is oppisite of the Falcon's. Use the spring mounting plates from the 69 Mustang/Cougar.
Car Craft Magazine ran a complete how-to article on th elate model front end and rear axle in the May 2000 issue, right down to a list of parts and costs at that time.
get everything you can from the comet then if you dont need it then what the heck. better to have unused parts than having to go back and he charge you for the stuff you left behind!
I have hands on experience with the 70's Comet in regards to parts that can be used on the early Falcon, enigne/trans, take the rear axle, front spindle/brakes, master cylinder and proportioning valve, and junk the rear as nothing will interchange with the early Falcon.
I spent four days cutting up a Comet and trying part by part on the Falcon, what's listed is the result of my investigation.
