Default Another easy question: window crank removal

Just as the title says how do I take off the manual window crank on the 63? I can't seem to get behind it & figure it out

If its like most, there's a horseshoe shaped clip on the back side. There's a special tool for taking them off,you need to locate the open end of the clip and push it off of the shaft.

I have one of thoes tools and never can get it to work as good as a curved end pick. I snag the horseshoe clip and pull it off.
but as Yank would say "peps always does everthing the hard way"

I'm about to go & price one out so as long as it's cheap enough I'll buy one. Otherwise I'm just going to try and MacGyver it.

This or a very thin flat screwdriver to push one of the clip legs out of the slot works, too.

Yeah, but put a little bend in it on the tip.Just did that job yesterday, regular straight screwdrivers don't want to reach very well.

As stated before, "Use a bigger hammer".

Seriously though, I've always used a flat screwdriver or ice pick to nudge one end of the horse shoe clip out of the slot in the crank.

Well, almost "always". Bought one of the "correct tools", used it once and misplaced it. Never bothered to look for it.

Pep, when did I say that? You are a Texan, Texans do everything the hard way...

LOL!

LOL!

you said it on the other board

"and the Ford engineers designed the window crank removal tool for a reason, they have years of education behind every desision they make, i dont know why other people try to re-engineer their ideas. I have studies this theory for many, many years and have found that after 50 years, they really knew what they were doing."
(a close impersonation of Yank)

and BTW, I live in Texas, but i am far from being a Texan. I grew up being a mountain man most of my life in the Pacific NW. up there i am known as Grizzly Peps
