Default Fuel gage Help!!!!!

I am working on a 65 futura V8 hardtop.So I replaced my tank with a mustang tank. Used a mustand sending unit and a mustang gauge.I have two questions 1) was this wrong to do. 2) how does he gas tank ground? Is it supposed to touch meatal or am I supposed to put a bead of silicon down. Thanks in advance.

is this the tank that screws into the trunk floor --it grounds thru the screws
