Default Loose Steering

I have a 1966 Ford falcon with power steering and the steering wheel has a lot of play in it (i can move the steering wheel about a 1/4 revolution before it turns the shaft) i was wondering if this is normal or if falcons have a rag joint and it wore out of something along those lines. i took it to get aligned last week and they checked pitman arm and said everything was fine. any input would be appreciated.

Quick and dirty: with the front tires on the ground; have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth and eyeball the whole steering mechanism from the wheel on down.

My MANUAL steering gearbox had a screw on the top to adjust play. Other than that, when mine went bad, it just seemed to be the accumulated play in about all the steering linkages and the idler arm. A new front end from a Musang II is about to solve that problem for me!
