Ford Festiva The Ford Festiva was introduced for 1988. Three trim levels were offered: L, L Plus, and LX. The Festiva's 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine switched from carburetion to fuel injection in 1989-90. For '90, a 5-speed manual transmission was standard and a 3-speed automatic optional. Festivas got a fresh grille and taillamps for 1990, and motorized front shoulder belts replaced manual belts.

Default Questions about my festiva

I have a 93 festie, and I'm looking to do a bit of work to it. Before I begin asking questions, let me throw a few pictures up here to give you an idea as to what I'm working with.

Now, I'm looking to jack it up about 3-5 inches and switching from my 12 inch rims to 14 or 15 inchers. I have never done this to a car designed with little power in mind. So, does anyone have any idea what kind of problems I will have in regards to my steering column/cv shafts once I jack up the car and throw larger tires on there?

Hey buddy your my kind of designer. I'm modifying one of my Festies as well. Easiest way to get 15" tires to fit is to get front hubs end and a rear axel at the scrap yard off of an Aspire. These bolt on with no hassle. 15" Mazda rims Bolt right on and look "SWEET". Mine came off of a Mazda MX-3 in the scrap yard. Make yourself a set of spring caps to compress the springs on all 4 struts by 1" to tighten up your suspensionand keep it riding high.you'll have to lower your control arms by making a cross member. This will bolt into the two spaces where the control arms hook in and the control arms will bolt in 2" lower on your new member. If you want a longer life out of your CV joints modify your engine mounts to lower your engine two inches as well. I havent done the steering rack yet but I have chopped and modified the roof half way back on mine ,as well as lowered the seats 3" and lowered the roof 6". The mazda 323 engine bolts in perfectly for a bit more power. This is not for the faint of heart buddy so have fun. and let me know how its going.
