Ford Festiva The Ford Festiva was introduced for 1988. Three trim levels were offered: L, L Plus, and LX. The Festiva's 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine switched from carburetion to fuel injection in 1989-90. For '90, a 5-speed manual transmission was standard and a 3-speed automatic optional. Festivas got a fresh grille and taillamps for 1990, and motorized front shoulder belts replaced manual belts.

Question Ford festiva 1996 manual Carb from vzla

hi guys, im new in the forum and im writing you because, my gf car, (a 1996 festiva) is having some problems, i love the car, i think is excelent, i love it more than my celica because of its reliability, and comfort in city, and as some here in the forum may know, some girls, dont care about theyr car, they only add gasoline and thats all hahaha, well, the car has a problem with the carb (im sure its the carb) since a year ago when the engine was rebuilt.

heres what happens: when you start to accelerate from a stop, you have to be carefull because if you rush with the pedal the car could choke and jump to gain speed again, it also happens if im gear and then push the pedal to the bottom very fast, so i have to push the pedal gradually.

to accel in a fast way i have to play with the clutch, and thats a thing i dont like because the clutch sufers a lot.

if im accelerating fast and shift, you almost cant feel the problem because of the clutch play, all i want to do is go slow with the car and push the pedal to the bottom without a problem whenever i need to.

i sprayed carb cleaner inside the other day and the problem disapeared for a second, but when i turned the car on and took it to the garage, the problem was there again.

i recently changed oil (it had long time without being replaced) and filter, rear tyres, and the car changed a lot, but i want it to be perfect.

the car is 1996 1.3 with carb manual 5 speed, its carburated because im in venezuela, and the mpfi came in 2000 (10 years later).

i want to know if this is a common problem with the festiva carb, and if theres any way to fix it by myself or do i have to take it to a shop to get the carb cleaned, also if you can teach me some things about the carb ill thank you a lot, because the bf has to fix and take care of the gf car.

id like to know some more things about the hose location, the fuel filter, and the carb drain.

thanks a lot guys, i hope you can help me, ill post some photos about the car engine when i can, i was inside the engine bay an hour ago and i had the hands dirty and forgot to take a photo... cya, thanks
