fuel problems My model is an '88 Ford Festiva. I just got the gas tank chemicaly cleaned out, a new fuel pump, and filter, and a carburetor overhaul. The mechanic let me know that it wasn't going to work that great because the car had been sitting for many years. It gets me to work and back but it boggs down at the take offs. I think I have a vacuum leak somewhere but I inspected all the lines and they are fine. The carburetor is firmly mounted with no signs of vacuum leakage there. Also, the fuel gauge works fine for a while. Then when it starts to get close to the 3/4 mark it starts to fluctuate and when it's about to hit the 1/2 tank mark, it just drops. I understand that it may be a hole it the little pipe within the tank. If it is can it be patched up with JB Weld? I need help and fast. I can't afford to keep making sure my tank is full at the end of each week and I'm getting tired of reving up my engine just so my car won't bogg down at the take offs. It would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
