1988 festiva lx for parts or, race

It is 1988 festiva lx, 5 speed manual, runs and drives but needs rings pretty bad. it will idle at first but as soon as she warms up it will not idle. at all. it has around 175000+ miles. It was a project to ice race but when the rings went bad i had to give up on it. i am only 16 and need to get a vehicle for when i get my license, the car is 150 bucks which includes the car and the drivetrain. as is, since it is gutted.
