Ford Focus Overall, it feels cushier than other compacts, both in terms of its comfortable seats and its soft suspension. It's fun to drive, however, with agile handling. It's comfortable on long trips and stable at high speeds. The Focus is among the best of the compacts in terms of ride quality and has been lauded by the enthusiast publications for its handling.

Default Check Engine Light - OBD "Check coolant level" Q

"Check Engine" light came on - OBD code says "Check coolant level", which I did, and it was
just a tad low, so I topped it off. However, the light is still on.

The 'alternate' issue listed says that it may be the thermostat needing replaced. A possibility
I guess - are there any other symptoms that might also indicate this? No issues with lack of heat,
or anything like that. Runs fine, etc, otherwise.

On another question, what is the general lifespan/mileage range when you might want to think
about replacing the water pump? It has 72K on it right now. Just wondering since I was going to
be messing with the thermostat and all......

Thanks,
Jerry

The waterpump may outlast the engine. I dont replace them till they leak.

My old 1992 Mustang GT had a coolant level low thing, when it got old it worked intermittently. Have you ever flushed your coolant out of the engine and coolant reservoir? Maybe your coolant has too many contaminants to it and that is messing with the sensor. If you change the coolant go ahead and do the T-stat at the same time cause it makes the job sooooo much easier.
