Ford FocusOverall, it feels cushier than other compacts, both in terms of its comfortable seats and its soft suspension. It's fun to drive, however, with agile handling. It's comfortable on long trips and stable at high speeds. The Focus is among the best of the compacts in terms of ride quality and has been lauded by the enthusiast publications for its handling.
I have a 2007 Focus ZX3 SE .The wiper linkage gets frozen in snow and ice when we get that type of weather. The snow mix goes into the wiper area in the cowl through the holes in the cowl cover. We do not have wipers until we melt up to 4 inches of ice. We now have to cover the cowl before we get any freezing percip.Ford told use that the problem is because we didn't get the cabin airfilter.(3 dealers)The drain holes are clear. Our 2005zx5 does not have this problem.I am curious if any body else has this problem? Paul
Hello, I have a problem with the wiper engine on my Ford Focus 1,6litre. 2001. The fuse is broken in wet weather. Does anybody know where the the wiper engine is located?
kajfocus: i had (or still have, I dont know yet) the same problem with my Focus 2001. the fuse kept popping when i used the wipers, but only like every other week or so. some times it could work for months before it popped again.
i took the car to a mechanic specialized in car electricity here in Göteborg a couple of weeks ago. he inspected the cables, the connectors and the old wiper engine but he couldn't find the source of the problem. he told me one interesting thing though: in 99 % of the cases rain or moist is NOT causing the problems. since the car runs at 12V there's not enough voltage to cause a short circuit caused by water. you can actually pour water all over the battery, connectors and cables and it still wont short circuit. the mechanic also managed to reproduce the problem by running the wipers indoors for a few minutes. this also points at water or moist is not causing the fuse to pop.
anyways, i decided to change the wiper engine to a brand new one, which was quite expensive. this was last week and since then the wipers have been working fine, and I've used them quite a lot.
BUT: today I talked to the wiper linkage and motor specialist here at Volvo Cars Customer Service where I work and he told me that the problem could be caused by jamming wiper linkage joints. he strongly suggested that I greased the linkage joints with plenty of low temperature grease or universal oil (for example the CRC 5-56). his experience is that it's rarely the engine that causes the fuse to pop, but a faulty linkage caused by verdigris. wish he only would have told me this before I spent 800 USD on a new wiper motor..
Engine is mechanical, a motor is electrical.
I was going to say the motor is over worked and the current is essentially building up, but you beat me to it.
