Ford FocusOverall, it feels cushier than other compacts, both in terms of its comfortable seats and its soft suspension. It's fun to drive, however, with agile handling. It's comfortable on long trips and stable at high speeds. The Focus is among the best of the compacts in terms of ride quality and has been lauded by the enthusiast publications for its handling.
I have a Ford Focus 2002, while I am driving I am fine, it is when I am in a stand still position, or just letting it sit. It will over heat the temperature gauge will slowly go into the red. My husband looked in the manual and it did not help him what so ever. So could you tell me where the engine coolant sensor is? That is what someone at a dealership that he called and told him.
2000FordFocus, When climbing a hill you should always turn off the AC (think mountain pass). The AC makes the engine work to hard and that's why it get hot.
My Focus overheats after driving for about 1 hour and getting stuck in traffic - from viewing other posts I have seen similar behaviors. I can let it idle in the driveway and it is fine.
There have been a few good suggestions under other posts so I will investigate them. If there is any new info please respond!
Confirm part numbers for 2000 GX3 Thermostat, Housing and Gasket
Hi there,
This thread has been very helpful! Just to make sure I've gotten it right, can anyone confirm the correct part numbers for the Thermostat, Housing and Gasket? I read above that the part listed in the book was incorrect. One user posted the parts listed below. Are they the correct ones? I'm trying to get the best prices and do this myself - so any help is appreciated! I've already successfully replaced the coolant reservoir and let me tell you - there was nothing more satifying that not paying $92/hr to the dealer to do the work!
Hi I just came across this website searching in Yahoo. I'm in Montreal Canada and I have a 2001 Ford Focus ZTS. I love the car and I won't not give it up fro anything. I had a recent overheating problem. I had changed my Waterpump and this was not the problem but I had to change it because it was leaking. It was still overheating. I took it to Goodyear because the dealer can't find anyhting. They suck. Goodyear changed the waterpump again and checked the fan changed the thermostat, check all the hoses and the radiator. It was all fine. After a week and I did some searching because I had a Cavalier Z24 that got stolen but I stll had the Haynes repair book. I started to read about the cooling system and I forgot to check the coolant bottle cap. This acts like a thermostat. It has a seal in the Cap. I went to Napa and bought a new Cap for $40.00 canadian. Changed it tonight and took the car for a drive for about an hour and the temperature guage was normal. If take a look at you cap where you add coolant look at the inside and compare it to the new cap. You can clearly see the difference in the seal. Now my Focus does not over heat at all anymore. Next for me is completely changing the entire exhaust system.
easiest trick in the book my friend remove thermostat gasket glue on housing and put back on with out thermostat then fill preston radiator flush add water afterward runn engine heater on full blast 15 to 20 min then shut down empty contents if alot of crap comes out redo again with just water untill there is nomore gunk or color it must come out clear water then after your done put a 180 dege thermostate from autozone in with new seal and buy 100 % collant and mix in a pale with water then pour into car and run engine and u should be back on your way also is your fan running ?
i have a 2000 which i had to replace the fan both front fans should be running it one is running u must replace or you will blow the head gasket normal ford 3.0l v6 issue runs from 98 to 05 models
Hello,
I am new to this forum. I had a 2000 Focus Sony Edition that I drove for 145,000+ miles. I took it on a road trip through the Midwest. I did not realize that it was over heating. No idiot light or any signs of overheating. Just the CD getting overly hot. I had already had the thermostat, hoses replaced. I also had other work replaced that was not related. Well, on the way to Denver, the car started burping (it's the best way for me to describe it). The car or I never been a mile over sea level; I live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The car was over heating because of the catalytic converter. The part got so hot that it took over 30 minutes to cool down. I drove my car too long in that state, that the engine got damage.
The other error I did was not knowing about cleaning the fuel system. Dumb me!
Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum. I have a 2000 Ford Foucs SE with 27800 miles. The other day while driving home it just started overheating, and the gauge hit red. The gauge only rises when I was stopped at a red light or stop sign. So I immediately pulled it over. I lift up the hood and the coolant is spewing from the hose at the front of the hood and leaked all out. From what I can tell, everything is intact except for a little occasional drip from that same hose under the clamp. I took it to the shop and they couldn't find anything major wrong from just checking under the hood. They said replace the hose and I might need to replace that plastic hose the radiator hose is attached to. I can drive it to work in the morning with no problem, but coming home is when it overheats.
Anyone have any idea of whats wrong and if its something I can fix on my own, or something major? I'm taking it to the dealer on Thurdsday, but I want to have an idea of whats wrong before I get charged up. Thanx.
Oh, my A/C doesn't work....fan blows on 4, but not 1-3. I heard thats the blower motor resistor so I'm getting that today.
