Ford Focus Overall, it feels cushier than other compacts, both in terms of its comfortable seats and its soft suspension. It's fun to drive, however, with agile handling. It's comfortable on long trips and stable at high speeds. The Focus is among the best of the compacts in terms of ride quality and has been lauded by the enthusiast publications for its handling.

I can agree with you Bortso. I recently bought a used '01 XZ3 and I don't feel like I am getting the gas mileage that I should be. Although it's a big step up from my last vechicle, Dodge Intrepid.

Where can I find a diagnostic machine? I hate having to check into a shop everytime my CEL comes on.

I just did several mileage checks on my 2007 Focus with 4K miles. My numbers show 35 MPG in a combined city/hwy use. I guess running on High Test really does pay off! I have had similar gains in mileage and performance on my last 3 cars and my boat, enough to offset the price difference per gallon.

Just left this info on another post...

Clean your Mass Airflow sensor (MAF) with MAF cleaner. I did that and changed air filter. Went from 23-24 to 29+ mpg. Last trip booked 30.5 mpg on a weekend trip with wife, kids, and loaded with gear and cloths. So far, I am much more impressed with this car.

I have a 2008 and I average almost 32 MPG overall. Best I have seen was 36.8 MPG and worst was 29.2 MPG. It is starting to average lower lately with the air on quite a bit.....

I am happy with the results!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2008 4door SE with 5spd. I do mostly highway and some city and mountain road driving. I use 87 octane and run the A/C when its hot. the lowest ive gotten is 40.1 mpg. The highest ive gotten is 40.8.mpg. I am very happy with my mpgs, i commute about 50 miles a day. i just put in amsoil 0w-20 at my first change, hopefully i can get more.

I get around 24 mpg in the winter and 27-29 in the summer. Depending on my driving style. 2001 ZX3 Zetec. 4-2-1 header, no cat, 2.25 exhaust, K&N Typhoon intake.
