Ford FocusOverall, it feels cushier than other compacts, both in terms of its comfortable seats and its soft suspension. It's fun to drive, however, with agile handling. It's comfortable on long trips and stable at high speeds. The Focus is among the best of the compacts in terms of ride quality and has been lauded by the enthusiast publications for its handling.
After driveing all over kingdom come with various stops and starts i came home and shut the car off.
The next day i got in but the car (2001 focus 4dr, auto,16v zetec dohc 158k) would only stay running for about 30 sec after being started then it sputters and dies. The car has never given me any substantial problems (except the passenger floor flooding which must be another common problem)
First i thought it was fuel related because it sounds like its running out of fuel or dieing from lack of air....(1/2 a tank of gas in the car now)
took the line off after the filter and quite a bit of gas pumped out...did not do a fuel pressure check ...
The fuel pump was replaced by the dealer as a recall about 2 yrs ago and at that time the filter was changed.
Took out the plugs and made sure the gap was correct ...the plugs looked ok and seemed to all be getting fuel.
I have been reading and looking and someone suggested it could be an Idle air control valve....Any validity to this?
Another odd thing it does while its running for 30 seconds...i can hear the electric cooling fan kick on and this is from a dead cold start after leaving it sit overnight.
Can anyone help me?
