Ford Focus Overall, it feels cushier than other compacts, both in terms of its comfortable seats and its soft suspension. It's fun to drive, however, with agile handling. It's comfortable on long trips and stable at high speeds. The Focus is among the best of the compacts in terms of ride quality and has been lauded by the enthusiast publications for its handling.

Exclamation New here. How do I replace my antenna???

Hi, I have a 2005 Ford focus. I recently bought a new antenna to replace the broken one. The screw on the base is broken. I have to replace the base as well. How do I switch the old base for the new base without scratching the exterior paint? If there is a topic about this kind of issue please direct me too it. Thanx

I don't have an answer for you. But I am in the same boat. I recently bought my '01 focus ZX3 and I didnt realize that my antenna was busted off. I also need to start from scratch. I would love to see if anyone has a suggestion on how to go about replacing it. Or should I just pay the Ford mechanics to take care of it?

I'm gonna take a stab here- if the antenna is broken off, there is probably still a stub of the threaded portion in the hole on the roof mount. If yu can get that out, you just have to screw the new one in. You might see if there is a tiny bit of it sticking up so you can gip it with a pliers and unscrew it. If not, a very small drill can put a hole down the center of the stub, then a device called an easy-out (from the hardware store) can be screwed into drilled hole and will unscrew the stub. The easy-out has a backward thread and will grip the inside of the hole you drilled. You might need WD-40 to loosen it if it's been broken a long time.

Thumbs up antenna replace

I just did this yesterday due to snow removal last winter taking it off roof, all to easily. First it is easy to drill out an antenna (soft metal) so only the base needs to be replaced ~10$ part. Removing dome light assembly is all you need to do for access to torx bolt to loosen roof assembly. The roof top assembly easily comes off then and the the rest is trivial (easiest w/ two people). antenna is about 30$ but it is less likely to be broken then post on base assembly. The whole process with part in hand and antenna drilled out already (be careful to prevent thread damage inside) should be ~20min or less.
Great time to replace any dome light bulbs too.
