New parts, still problems I've had a rotation sound in my 2001 Focus for a while now. (automatic trans.) I know front rotors and pads where bad so I replaced them. I got rid of the pulsating and shimmy while braking. I've also replaced the drivers side hub and bearing. The tires are balanced, tried 3 different combinations so far. Wheels do not wobble when checking for bad/loose bearings. Wheels spin freely while on jack stands and car in gear. The axles have no excessive play in them. The noise and rotation sound only happens between 5-30 mph. Nothing after that. (Unless it's just rotating too fast to hear?) I've been on three Focus forums and searching for two weeks now and have not found an answer. I've spent over $200.00 on parts so far, plus my labor. I could replace axles and passenger hub/bearing assembly but don't want to play the elimination game any more. Noise and vibration is constant either turning left or right. (to check bearing) It's difficult to pinpoint the sound, everything vibrates in the console, glovebox, and cupholders at mentioned speed. I can even see my hood vibrate slighty. The closest I can explain would be like driving on a cobblestone or brick road with overinflated tires. I don't mind spending the money to fix this, but I'm already in the hole. |
