Ford Focus Overall, it feels cushier than other compacts, both in terms of its comfortable seats and its soft suspension. It's fun to drive, however, with agile handling. It's comfortable on long trips and stable at high speeds. The Focus is among the best of the compacts in terms of ride quality and has been lauded by the enthusiast publications for its handling.

Hey, before you do all that. Find the fuses the go to the cd changer(there may be 2 of them). Pull the fuse and put it back in. This will sometimes re-set the changer and you can then get your discs out. It works for me. I've had to do it 3 or 4 times.

Default How do you remove the 6 Disk CD Changer?

I've seen this suggested several times, but nobody says HOW to pull the radio out. When I look at mine, I don't see any obvious way. Can someone please post instructions or do you have to be a tech?

Thx.

I have a similar problem. My player just doesnt play anything anymore. I was not even able to eject or load any CDs. I brought it to a radio shop, and the guy was not able to fix it. He removed all the CD's and suggested me to buy a new one. I found on internet repair service Automotive Radio and Changers Repair Services :: 6 CD Changer Error Fixing and they fixed it for 199+shipping... Don't even try to repair it youself.

Default 6-Cd Changer

To remove the radio, DON'T GO BUY THE TOOL THAT THEY TRY TO SALE U. Remove the bolts under the radio that holds it in place. The panel around the radio with the radio should come loose. U will need to push in the prongs (one on each side) to remove the radio from the panel. This is a pain to do but it can be done. This is what the tool is for, but I could not get it to work.

My radio had disks in it that I could not play or eject. I thought a couple were stuck, but this was not the case when I took the radio apart. I did not try taking out the fuse, disconnecting the battery, etc first. Wish I would have. I just removed the upper screws holding the radio together and was able to take my disks out. Be very careful when you do this because there are three springs that hold the disk in place. The plates (whatever you want to call them) that hold the CD's in place also have to go inside grooves, tracks, and other sorts of things. Hopefully if you put it back together the way you took it apart, it will work when you put it back in. Mine does not. However, I can't figure out how the plates went back in.

Default removing a stuck cd in 6 disk player

We tried the fuse removal and it did not work. We then reset the unit by depressing the CD button and the eject. Then we selected the shuffle button and the CD came out.

Default Same thing, problem solved

I had the same problem twice. Last time I brought it to Ford who charged me $50 to take the CD out and gave me the same line of crap about burned discs, etc. even though the stuck disc was pressed. Anyways this time I bought the U-tool thingy from Walmart for $4 and had no problems getting deck out. But when I tried to disassemble the deck I couldn't find a Torx wench of that size, went to three different stores and no-go. Everybody's got a 10 which is too small and a 15 which is too big, although Sears did have the 10s and 15s in about a dozen different colors but I digress. So finally I just happened to start button pushing and I pressed and held the load button, it ran through all the disc positions, and suddenly recognized the stuck disc in slot 1. Not sure if that's a typical experience or not but it worked for me.

Default 2002 Thunderbird CD Changer errors

I am seeing lots of errors regarding cd changers. Some sound like they are for Thunderbirds, some not. I used to be able to get a stuck cd out by catching what seemed like a hung disk by sliding a business card in and "popping" the cd loose. Now the changer gets stuck on an empty slot so ther appears to be more to the problem. It sounds like ther are some potential solutions posted but I would be curious to know the following:

what worked on a 2002 (or later) Thurderbird to get the cds out if you did it yourself and if you took the changer out, how?

if you had it repaired, what did it cost and any recommendations about what to ask when getting it fixed?

Thanks!

the reset idea of pressing CD and eject at the same time was fabulous. It managed to reset the player enough that it responded to the hung cd - which a standard business card inserted gently above the cd allowed it to slide out.

I have successfully removed all 6 cds!
