Ford Focus Overall, it feels cushier than other compacts, both in terms of its comfortable seats and its soft suspension. It's fun to drive, however, with agile handling. It's comfortable on long trips and stable at high speeds. The Focus is among the best of the compacts in terms of ride quality and has been lauded by the enthusiast publications for its handling.

Default "new" focus vs "old" focus
I'm not talking about the Euro - Ford Focus.

Focus came out in 2000. It was a great car. Expert review rave about it. Ok, it aged. Ford update it in 2008 (current).

If we read the review, it would be negative. Ok, we can say Focus have not kept up wit the competitior, but the review seems like Ford made the car worst as far as handling and performance.

I'm driving a 09 (SE) as a rental, and felt it's a good little car. If this is "bad" as far as handling, than the old Focus must be really good.

Focus experts, what did Ford do to make the current car "bad?"

I kind of like it (SE).

Everything I have read that is negative about the current Focus is in comparison to the Euro Focus which is much better !
