Ford Focus Overall, it feels cushier than other compacts, both in terms of its comfortable seats and its soft suspension. It's fun to drive, however, with agile handling. It's comfortable on long trips and stable at high speeds. The Focus is among the best of the compacts in terms of ride quality and has been lauded by the enthusiast publications for its handling.

there is a rain plate by the bottom of the windshield by the passenger side. in 2002 it has been known to crack. this happened to myself.

I suggest you take it to someone that does not work for Ford. I have an 01 Focus and mine leaked since I bought it. After it leaked on my new video camera I took it to the dealership for the second time on this issue and told them to fix it ( although they could never find a problem). They said to bring it back when it was raining. It never leaked again. My husband has recently attempted to replace the cabin air filter. We discovered Ford had spray painted a For Sale sign and it was wedged over the housing for the air filter, thus keeping rain water out. There should be a recall.

Default water leak

Had this problem with my 2000 wagon (one problem in a long line.....). It took out the blower resistor, thus disabling AC and all but high fan speed.

Problem is water coming in through the blower where the cabin air filter ought to be. Solved by removing plastic cowl piece, fixing cracked gutter on its underside (broken, I believe during assembly, or at the dealer during the continuous string of repair attempts for various other issues) then RTV'd the heck out of the cowl/windshield mating surface. 3 months dry so far, including July's torrential rains/flooding (Chicago area).

This sounds like a not so un-common problem with Focus'. It seems the cowl panel grille(over time)allows water to leak under it and collect in the cabin filter housing. This will create a leak in the interior footwell on the passenger side, below the glove box. In my case it was discovered when my heater motor blower stopped working in the 1,2,3 speeds and only blew in the 4th position. The leak shorted out the blower resistor that is attached to the blower motor, easily accessable with the glove box removed. Also, I have been told that attatching some double-sided adhesive/sealer between the cowl and the windshield should stop the leak. I am in that process right now.
