Ford FocusOverall, it feels cushier than other compacts, both in terms of its comfortable seats and its soft suspension. It's fun to drive, however, with agile handling. It's comfortable on long trips and stable at high speeds. The Focus is among the best of the compacts in terms of ride quality and has been lauded by the enthusiast publications for its handling.
I have the answer to water in passenger side floor
I have a 2001 Ford Focus. After I bought the car (while still under warranty), water started leaking into the passenger side floor. I took the car to the dealership where I bought it and they could not find a problem. The leaking continued. It then rained and poured all over my brand new video camera. I was not happy. I took the car to the dealership where I live and told them what had happened. They said they also could not find a problem......yet the car never leaked again. Recently after doing routine maintenance my husband discovered a black spray painted "For Sale" sign lodged over the cabin air filter. The dealership of course denies they put it there, but I know the car wasn't built that way, and why did the leaking stop after taking it to them????? I have done some research and realize this is a common problem for Ford. If you are having this problem, try laying a water hose over the passenger windshield wiper and see if it doesn't come through the seal into the floor. You will notice it immediately, but have a wet/dry vac handy. There needs to be a recall. I have already made a complaint with The Office of Defects Investigations. If you are having this problem, PLEASE make a complaint with them also. Ford needs to pay for their stupidity! If you know anywhere else I can make a complaint for this, please let me know.
I can understand how frustrating it is to not have the desired service your looking for when you go to the dealership. Some problems can be determined faster than others. Although suggesting in making a recall in a problem you`ve encountered doesnt mean that "all" Ford Focus`s have the same issue.
I can understand that your car had a defect, which does happen to any car you buy at any price, but asking everyone to take the time to make a complaint for something they dont have is far fetched.
Please 01focus, dont take this personally, this is just a overall view on the situation.
I wouldn't ask people to report any problem they didn't have with their car. I have done some research and realize this is a very COMMON problem. I would appreciate it if others having the same problem would make a report. It would benefit all of us. I don't think that is a far fetched thing to ask.
I have just had the same thing happen to my 02 Focus. It rained heavily and the passenger footwell was soaked. When I looked at the car it seemed to be the plastic cover at the bottom of the windscreen coming away, is this the cause or have you found another cause?
I have a 00 focus that I have just started noticing the problem of flooded pass. floor in heavy rains. Thanks for the tips as to where it might be coming from!
I have an 01 Focus and after having the windshield replaced I started having this problem. It seems they put the plastic drain back in wrong. It is very easy to do after you change the cabin filter. The drain pan/cover gets on top of the ledge where the water drains off the sindshield and the water runs under it instead of into it. worked for me. No more leaks.

I have an '06 Focus that is leaking on the passenger side, front and back. I noticed after parking the car, that water was running out between the fender and door. I understand there is a problem with the grommets not being properly installed, or sometimes not installed at all.
hey, i was googling randomly and came across your woes... i have a '52 1.8 ghia and have had the same problem you all were talking about.
the thing that is causing it is the pollen filter. basically, the seal on the pollen filter cover has always been poor due to a manufacturers defect. i used to have literally a pond in my passenger footwell after it rained. because the seal on the pollen filter cover was not tight, water leaked into the pollen filter and ran down into the footwell via the air ducts. to rectify the problem, my local garage ordered a modified pollen filter cover and ive not had a relapse since. i believe ford are aware of this defect and hence have made a modified cover. ask your local dealer about it. i can guarantee this will sort your problem out! it cost me £70 to change.. but tbh if u can find the part urself, u can DIY it with a haynes book!
hope this helps,

You should still be covered under warranty... right? Check on it and cash in. Be very nice and likeable as it helps to speed up processes. It shouldn't be that way, but service depts are.
My 2007 Taurus was in the dealer shop for a week for water leak in front passenger side floor. The cause: a factory defect. The plugs were not put in for the area between the firewall and engine is what I was told. My entire car interior and dash was taken apart I believe. This is used car for me with some new car warranty left, thanks goodness. They initially replaced two common parts that usually take care of this problem, but when they got my car from that lot after they supposedly thought it was fixed, it was discovered that the heavy rain from the previous night's storm has filled the floorboard again. That is when they dug deeper and found this factory defect. I hope that this might help other owners who may be encountering this problem.
