Ford Freestar The Ford Freestar is a solid, highly capable minivan that performs well and offers all the latest safety features. Much of the Freestar's structure and design came from the Windstar it replaced. Windstar offered class-leading safety and solid performance for its time. Freestar is the highest quality minivan it has ever built.

Default Average fuel burn for the freestar 3.9Liter

Hi
Just purchased a 2004 freestar with 3.9 liter engine. the first 60 miles I drove on the parkway doing about 60-65 mph.The second 10 miles I drove local streets. A total of 70 mile driven.
My average milage was 21.85 per gal. My normal driving is half hyway and half city. I am averaging about 16.8 mpg, is this about right for this engine. I understand this van has a final 3.65 gear ratio. So far I love the freestar. Also I wish to purchase the shop manuals from Helms book co. Does anyone have any suggestions in this area?

Sincerely
Vince.Long Island NY:

weak attempt at being a smartass (I know, the "10,000 starving comedians" gag)...

anyway, I would average you fuel economy out over several hundred miles... the larger your sample, the more accurate the result... for a new vehicle, it sounds about right..

I am pleased with the milega on our 04 Freestar S. I make 22-23 on Highway while driving 75-80 MPH. Also, I do NOT have cruise. I plan to install Cruise this Spring. I average about 17 MPG in City. Currently, I have 21K miles.
