Ford Freestar The Ford Freestar is a solid, highly capable minivan that performs well and offers all the latest safety features. Much of the Freestar's structure and design came from the Windstar it replaced. Windstar offered class-leading safety and solid performance for its time. Freestar is the highest quality minivan it has ever built.

Default very odd behavior-04 Freestar

My 04 freestar started stalling yesterday. It would restart but stall once again after 30 seconds of driving. My wife left the van in a parking lot and i went to investigate.I restarted the van and immediately noticed the engine light and a light that resembles a gear with an exclamation point was on.I put it in reverse and the transmission didnt engage.I then put it in neutral and the rpms shot up to around 2000.I popped it back in reverse and this time it engaged but was really sluggish and had no power.I managed to bring it to a mechanic's shop(after stalling and resarting 15 or so times) and he recommended me to a trusted local tranny shop. The tranny shop looked it over and concluded that it must be electrical. It is now at the dealer but the problem seems to have disappeared overnight. My wife uses this van to run the kids around so id like to know that it wont quit on her and cause an accident or leave her and kids stranded.I read a post that said moisture might be able to get to the pcm on the 05's,anyone know if this is true on the 04's?Thanks in adance for any suggestions.
