Ford FreestarThe Ford Freestar is a solid, highly capable minivan that performs well and offers all the latest safety features. Much of the Freestar's structure and design came from the Windstar it replaced. Windstar offered class-leading safety and solid performance for its time. Freestar is the highest quality minivan it has ever built.
I bought the NEW Denso Platinum TT plugs with 0.040" gap from Advance Auto for my 2006 Freestar SE with a 3.9L engine. There were NO instructions whether to regap to 0.052" as per Freestar specs. I could not find anything on the Denso website or anywhere else. DO I NEED TO ADJUST THE GAP OR NOT ???
Many of these fancy plugs are pregapped. I know for example the Bosch Platinums are. The parts store should be able to help you out unless it was Wal-Mart or something.
yup. There are negligible performance gains to be made with fancy plugs and they likely aren't going to last as long as oem... I have fouled a few of these only to replace them with factory parts. I am not sure if there is much to gain with motorcraft versus aftermarket stock products but you are not going to go wrong with motorcraft.
Spark plugs may be pre-gapped from the factory however plugs do get bounced around and get out of gap.
#1. Never trust a person when they say they are pre-gapped.
#2. Never use them fancy plugs cause they can cause more issues with running problems. Always use stock type plugs unless you highly modified your car where it needs better plugs.
