Ford FreestarThe Ford Freestar is a solid, highly capable minivan that performs well and offers all the latest safety features. Much of the Freestar's structure and design came from the Windstar it replaced. Windstar offered class-leading safety and solid performance for its time. Freestar is the highest quality minivan it has ever built.
For the third time in the past two years, my wife has managed to back our Freestar into someone elses car. Since this is getting expensive and I will need to replace the bumper cover at some point, would it be possible to replace it with a bumper that has back-up sensors in it? I didn't know if all the wiring was already in place so all you would need to do is put on the bumper and plug it in. It's probably wishful thinking, but I figured I would ask.
Our "new" Monterey Premier has them front and rear, and they're Great. Just today I backed it to within one foot of my Model T. You know by the speed of the beep, then solid tone at one foot. They detect an open garage door.
I've seen aftermarket ones on ebay, but have no idea if they're any good. You can drill your present bumper. They come with pretty good instructions.
I bought three of the backup cameras from PepBoys, and they're basically worthless. The picture is just too small.
