high pitch whistling sound after i drive for 10 to 15 minutes
i have a 2005 sport with 32k - recently and it dosent do it all the time I get a high pitch whistling sound after i drive for 10 to 15 minutes, and it loud enough u can hear it inside the cab, its for sure in the front passenger side, it usually happen between speeds of 60km to 80km and get louder as speed increases and go's away when the brake are applied or when turning the wheel slightly to left or right. i have had the brakes checked and they are like new. any idea toward this would be great.
I have the same exact problem in my 2004 Ford Freestar. I have been to 2 different well - known mechanics and cannot find anything wrong. I am racking my brain out with this one! I have approx. 43,0000 miles on my van and it is the most anoiying noise I ever heard. Have you found out what this could be? We thoutht he ball bearing may be going....but now the mechanic is telling me that the tranny may be slipping or something....???
Help is needed on this one!! Anyone have an solutions??
Thank you
its been 3 week since ive tryed this and no whistling sound yes its gone.
i went to a locale parts shop and decided to try a bottle of good brake cleaner/to spary the front brake assembly and with in an hour of spary of spraying it in the parking lot of canadian tire and driving home took about half hour the sound slowly went away completely
abiKasim, has the sound returned or did the brake cleaner solve your problem? I have a problem with my 96 Aerostar that matches your original description almost to a tee.
Thanks, Tim J.
Hope this helps all of you frustrated 2004 Freestar Van owners. There is "TBS" bulletin on these vans. The bulletin is not rated as a recall, just yet...however, it should be a recall.
Go to AutoWeb.com and put in all the data in for recalls. You will see a notice for the Wheels Cap/cover/hub.
I just had to have my wheel bearings/hubs replaced by a Ford dealer due to this high pitched whistle sound. I already had my rotors and front brake pads replaced, due to over-heated pads. Most likely, the pads were over-heated and cracked due to this problem. I did have the "CPS" warranty, therefore, I only had to pay $100.00 deductible. The whistle sound is gone...hopes this helps you if you are having this problem.
yes its been confirmed and test it is the hub thats making all that nasty noise. but the dealer will refuse to change cause they deny that is the problem. after a lot of yelling i got them to change it under warranty and what do you know the sound is GOOD as GONE and seem to brake soomer now.
