Ford Freestar The Ford Freestar is a solid, highly capable minivan that performs well and offers all the latest safety features. Much of the Freestar's structure and design came from the Windstar it replaced. Windstar offered class-leading safety and solid performance for its time. Freestar is the highest quality minivan it has ever built.

Usually you can pull the actual knob off (there may be a screw or something behind it to acess the bulb). If not, just begin to pull the pieces of plastic trim off to the left and to the right of the switch. Just carefully pull the dash trim off, and guess. It should come off with fingers, there may be a few hex screws too... Just be careful and it should be fine.

I've disassembled the entire dash on a 1998 windstar, but the Freestar dash was remodeled. Wish I could help, or even be more specific, but I can't.

Thanks. I've had a Ford Scorpio Cosworth wagon and you could easily pull the actual knob there. I felt more resistance with the Freestar knob, but I'll check for srews and give it a try. I've had two Windstars a 3Ltr from 2000 and a 2003 3.8, but never had a broken light in the switch knob. Good luck.
