I'm trying to track down poor fuel economy on our '04 Monty with 4.2 It's about 12 around town, per the display. There have not been any codes in the 2K miles we've driven it.
I just got a 2004 Ford Powertrain Control / Emissions Diagnosis manual off ebay. It's a hefty loose leaf notebook. It says both the 3.9 and 4.2 should have 60 psi fuel pressure at all running speeds.
My scanner reads 40 psi, and the mechanical gauge I installed reads 35 psi. It goes up after engine shutdown.
60 psi is 410 kpa. (psi x 6.9) for you metric people.
It can't be restricted fuel delivery, as the pressure does not drop with demand.
