Default Cost to replace a transmission

Just wanted to share with you the cost of replacing this transmission and get some opinions on warranties. Apparently the transmission repair facility has a lifetime warranty they will sell me for an additional 1281.00 that will cover it for the time I own the van. He said no limit on years / miles. Has anyone here ever done that before?

The total bill is up to 3412.04 now. OUCH!

That bill sounds pretty high already, A Ford Motor Company remanufactured transmission is in that neighborhood (or less) and comes with a 3 year warranty good at any Ford dealer.

Ford Reman is what they are putting in - I see it has a 3yr/75k warranty on it. Maybe I'll just take my chances with that.
