Default Power Steering & suspension issues
I've noticed that when i am not on gas pedal or not moving, the power steering just seems to disapear, and the wheel becomes very hard to turn, it's still possible to turn the wheel, so it is not completly unassisted. I'm guessing this is a lose connection somewhere, anyone know how I would fix this myself?


Also when the wheel is turned especially when it is turnd to or close to the maximum steering angle it makes a loud whiny sound.

Your symptoms are similar to having low levels of power steering fluid; maybe an issue with the pump or air in the line as well. Does it whine at all?

Check the automagic belt tensioner, it may not be holding proper tension on the belt at idle.

Great point... belt slippage could do all the above.
