| NEED BIG TIME HELP ! Temp gauge ! I need help ! Maybe some one knows!
I have freestar 2005 with 90000km.
My cooling temperature gauge go up after I drive more that 100 Km/h. I was with mechanik and he have scanner connected when this hapen, and all reading of temp was perfect . 2 mechanics try to fix it no results. One change termostat and flush cooling system. Second one change cooling temperature sensor , no results. Finaly I want to Ford dealer on monday, next day they call me with some news, motor head gasket bud they have to run some test tomorow to be sure. Wendsday, call, gasket is good and we have good news , they found problem and they have to replace cpu ( computer ) and this is cover by ford garantie. Good I was happy for one day . Friday ford call me: We change computer and all the same and they have to check my ford monday. Sorry for my English.
Regards,
Tomi |

| From what you are saying, the temp. gauge reads HOT, yet all tests indicate that the coolant is normal temperature. Have you seen the engine itself over-heat? (steam, boilover)? That could indicate a bad headgasket, but the dealer probably pressure tested the cooling system. Maybe the dashbord gauge is defective. If you are still under warranty, they have to fix it even though your engine may not actually over-heating |

| Yes, gauge reads Hot only after 100 km/h and back to normal after few min. then again hot. No over heat steam or boilover. Some cluster expert check and every thing is ok with my cluster.
Could be programing, becose when we order temp. sensor they give me bad one, and I order by car serial number. Then my mec. ask for print off location off sensor and print show as diffrent location and`the sensor was not the same. Maybe in the computer they have diffrent one and they programed according to serial number. Are this possible ???? |

| A '05 seems new enough, but I'm guessing 90,000 km means you're out of warranty? I can't believe they are charging you $540 just for the estimate. That portion of the bill should be waived, or GREATLY reduced if you are going to let them do thr repair. V6 has 2 head gaskets, are they going to replace both? If you are not going to keep it much longer, headgasket in a bottle? |

(unfortunately, not really) Why do most dealers, of any car make, suck when it comes to diagnosing and repairing even their own brand vehicles?? I would demand that they fix the overheating without charging you an additional penny! I bet you bought your last Ford ever, and they could care less. |

| Had the same issue with my 05 with 80km. The temp would go to 116 deg c and back to 100 deg c while on on the highway driving 120 km/hr. No signs of steam or other problems and it would run fine. Did note that when the weather was cold and i plugged the block heater in , that upon startup the next morning I would hear a gurgling sound in the cabin heater system. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the thermostat and all was well. Good luck |
