Tire Pressure Monitor System The TPMS light was intermittent and then it stayed on. The dealer could find no malfunction and through their tests turned the light off. I was not sure if the system was working and removed air from one tire 37% to 22lbs, 12% below what the manual said, drove a distance, and the TPMS did not activate.
The dealer again said there was nothing wrong. I found out that the 2005 TPMS works off the ABS system and was told there are no sensors in the tires. I was unable to obtain the low-pressure activation point from the dealer, factory rep or from Ford online who suggested I ask another dealer for the info.
The dealer told me the owner’s manual is generic and the information about TPMS activation pressure may not apply to my vehicle. However they could not tell me what did pertain to my 2005 Freestar nor would they test the system under actual low tire pressure.
Where does one go from here?
