Ford Freestyle The Ford Freestyle's roofline stands at 68 inches off the ground, and Ford has declined to put a label on it, either SUV or sedan. Keeping the Freestyle tall and offering all-wheel-drive seems to be attactive to non-SUV and non-Sedan car owners, and the Freestyle comes with low ground clearance, unibody construction, independent suspension and a overhead cam engine.

Default Steering noise

Hi folks,
I just purchased my 2nd freestyle. It's a 2005 AWD SE.
I returned my other one off lease and picked up this one

This is how I duplicate the noise: Wheels straight, in drive but stepping on the brake, slowly turn the steering wheel(either way) until resistance, and then POP!(like a springy pop noise). When I say 'resistance' I am just referring to the point at which the steering actually begins to turn the wheels.

It is not the steering stops(I grease them regularly) and besides this is not at a contact point.
I don't thinks its the CV joints. all intact.
Suspension? Rack?

I read something somewhere about something to do with the suspension and replacing some kind of plate end? I'd do a search but I can't remember what the part was called.
