Ford Fusion The Ford Fusion is an excellent choice among midsize sedans and should not be overlooked. The Fusion was introduced as an all-new vehicle for 2006 and it's a superb car. It handles well, looks purposeful, it's comfortable, and it delivers good value. Furthermore, the all-wheel-drive Ford Fusion extremely stable on wet pavement.

Default 2007 Ford Fusion Revving

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for some help with my fusion. It is a 4 cyl. and has about 8000 miles on it. I was driving it a couple days ago and was stopped at a red light. The car revved very high while I had the brake on. I dismissed this and thought perhaps my foot had slipped to the gas a little. About two and a half hours later I was stopped on an exit ramp. The car began to rev very high again and I had the brake completely pressed to the floor, the car lurched ahead and hit the vehicle in front of me. There was not damage to either car but I am very concerned about the safety of the vehicle. I had it towed to the dealer and they called me the next morning. They had hooked the car up and the computer showed no irregualarities. They told me they could not verify the problem or duplicate it and that I could come get the car. I told them that was not acceptable and they do have a tech guy driving it for the weekend with a recorder and gave me a loaner. I was wondering if anyone experienced similar problems or has ideas how to fix them. I would also appreciate ideas on what to do if it does not malfunction while they are testing it. I have had the car less than four months, it's on a 3 year lease, and I'm terrifed to drive it.
Any advice is much appreciated.

If this happens again get the transmission into neutral as fast as you can, this gives you more control over the situation.

Your engine probably has drive by wire (no throttle cable just an electronic sensor at the throttle pedal sending info to the computer that then opens/closes the throttle on the engine) so an electronic problem is likely. Also, floor mats can interfere with the operation, so make sure there are no obstructions.

You want your dealer to contact the Ford tech line since they may have information on similar problems. Your dealer can put the recording device on your car when you drive it too, insist on this because it is literally a life threatening issue.

The NHTSA have a web site and phone in capability to record vehicle safety issues. They can advise you if there are similar problems with other cars like yours. The key issue is unexpected violent acceleration from standstill causing an accident. They will react to your complaint or advise the correct avenue for you, since your life and that of the public are in jeopardy.

Hope this helps.

This has happened to me also. I took it to the dealer and they gave me the same answer. I'm not sure what to do about the problem. Let me know if you get any help with the situation.
