Ford Fusion The Ford Fusion is an excellent choice among midsize sedans and should not be overlooked. The Fusion was introduced as an all-new vehicle for 2006 and it's a superb car. It handles well, looks purposeful, it's comfortable, and it delivers good value. Furthermore, the all-wheel-drive Ford Fusion extremely stable on wet pavement.

Default Grinding noise with cold start

I have been hearing a grinding noise when I cold start my Fusion. I've noticed it several times, but it doesn't happen everytime and never when the engine is warm. Engine runs fine, no warning lights.....runs great.

The day I took my car in the weather was warm and I didn't hear it. I'm wondering if it's a "cold weather" issue since it was cold every time it made the noise. I'll have to wait and see if that theory pans out.

While it was in the shop, I browsed Fusion message boards and noticed that other folks are having the same problem. Some say it's the A/C compressor while others say it's a belt, but the repair shop could not duplicate the problem and everything looks good to them.

I called Ford Motor Company and voiced my concern, so at least it's documented. I did tell him about what I read online and that I would let these other people know to contact them.

So if you are having this problem, please contact Ford. If there is a trend, they need to know about it so they can investigate it and provide a fix.

Here is the phone number that was listed on their site. Email and snail mail are available too, but I wanted to actually speak to someone.

Default Screeching Noise

I've had a similar problem. My Fusion makes a screeching noise, usually in the morning or if it's been parked all day while I'm at work. When I go to start it, I hear this awful screeching noise that can't be good. It's at the Ford dealer now, trying to repair it. Have you had any luck with your problem? I would appreciate any feed back!

Thanks,
Sasha

My car did this too, but noit recently. It does happen mostly when the car starts in the morning, or after it's been sitting for the day at work......I won't bring it in, since I can't replicate it everytime...

My 06 Fusion will make a loud raspy noise during the first couple of seconds when starting cold. I live in the Caribbean, and a cold day down here barely falls below 70's or maybe the mid 60's in the winter months (US winter that is, no winter down here), I'd hate to hear it start in really cold weather and suspect something will break in near freezing temps.

To me it sounds like it's lacking lubrication and grinds a bit until oil is pumped throughout the engine, but that's just a thought. Unless there's already a TSB out to fix this, I doubt very much my Ford Dealership will get even close to fixing the real problem. They're experts keeping my car for weeks at a time while solving very little.

It seems that I am having the same issues. If the car sits for a few days it makes a chirping sound on the initial startup.Has anyone had their car service for this problem.I am guessing it is the belt sticking.
