Ford Galaxie The Ford Galaxie has effortless V8 performance, bulletproof mechanicals and great value make 30-year old Galaxie increasingly desirable with true-blue collectors. Size has everything to do with the on-going appeal of these cars. Although the newest are now more than 30 years old, a well-maintained Galaxie offers comfort and performance to rival cars half its age.

Thumbs up 1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie 500

Here are some pics of my dad's 1959 Ford sedan. It has the 352 cid engine and cruise-o-matic tranny, ALL of the exterior chrome & options, AM radio, heater, and that's it, no other options.

This is the car "that got me started" in cars. My uncle bought this car new, and it has remained in our family since. It still sports the original paint and interior too!!!

Beautiful car! I just called my wife in here to look at it. She was driving one just like this when I first met her, except hers was white and had no fender skirts.

It sounds as if you have appreciation for what you have here. You have a responsibility now to take care of it. Let me know if I can offer any help.

Thanks "MBDiagMan". I've removed ALL the O.E. pwr brake, pwr strg, and A/C componenets over the years from junk yard '59 Fords and plan on adding them to this car in the future. How far East are u anyways? I live in Wichita Falls....

I am 180 miles East of Wichita Falls on the Red River in the NorthWest corner of Lamar County. Paris is the county seat.

Hi. Just bought a -59 Galaxie from Minnesota, it has a 292 and ford-o-matic.
No power brakes, no power steering, no power nothing.... I'd like to add power steering though... since you wrote you have collected all parts for that, do you have any info about exactly which parts you need to convert to power steering... My car also has the factory -59 AC. But the AC pump is missing, so that I will also need to find...

If it were me adding power steering to this car and I did not have the need to make the car as it would have come from the factory, I would mount a 59 Pump on the engine just as it would have come from the factory. I would then use an integral power steering box from a 65 or later full sized Ford. This would be FAR superior to the old control valve and cylinder system with all it's hoses and problems.

My $0.02,

I collected the pwr. brake & steering parts off 1957-59 Ford Fairlanes & T-Birds from a local salvage yard. It was ALL the same stuff, except for the 1959 Ford car power steering idler arm & pressure hoses (can be bought new). Ford example, my control valve is of a '58 T-Bird, the steering ram came from a 1959 Fairlane 500 2-dr car, & the pwr. steering pump & brackets came off a 1959 T-bird with a 352cid engine. Does this help any?

Thanx, it helps a lot... I can even try now to find the parts... but the car will not show up until en of october in Sweden... so I have the time now to look for parts...
Thik I'll try to find a pump and bracket from a 57-59 car, and a newer integrated steering from a newer car as suggested in previous reply..

And if that will not work, I'll just have to buy the parts from US.
