Default heater motor

While killing time today, I found that the wire attached to the fuse
panel for the heater had been cut and I can't find the other end.
Was wondering if anyone could tell me if the wire goes towards the blower or the switch?

Thanks in advance.

Darren

Default Heater motor wiring

As per the Ford schematic the fan is wired as follows:
wire 181 (orange) from fuse (20 Amp) thru a bullet connector @ fan motor.
Wire from other side of motor (black) with spade connector to blower motor resistor. From the resistor 3 wires # 268 (red) #269 (blue) and #270 (black w/ yellow stripe) go to the fan motor switch. The switch then applies a ground via wire # 57 (black). All of these wires run thru a 10 position white plastic junction block connector located under the lower left side of the dash. Hope this helps...Car53

Pretty much what I have. I have an orange, blue and red wire from the resistor which I believe run through a 12 position junction block but then I have the same at the switch so I guess its ok. I have seen an orange wire under the dash with the word RESISTOR written on it. Does the orange wire from the motor run through the junction block or does it go directly to the fuse panel?
I have called it a night as the mosquitoes are getting annoying. Thanks for your input.

The service manual shows the orange wire from the fuse going into the dash harness thru the "junction block" and under the hood to the heater motor.

I will try again tomorrow to see if I can trace the wiring. What is the purpose of the junction block? Cold I run the wire directly from the motor to the fuse panel or is that a rookie mistake?

The "junction block" is really a plug and connector where the dash harness mates with the under hood harness. Think of it as an extension cord with a connector on each end. You can certainly run a wire directly between the fuse and the fan motor, however if you are looking to keep your car original that is not the way to fix it. If you have found the cut end of the original wire the end where it was cut from has to be close by. The wire should run in the main dash harness to the area just above the pedals where the wires go through the firewall and on to under the hood. Now if your main goal is to get the fan working and you don't care about keeping things like Henry built it then a "jumper" will do the trick. Just remember don't leave the fuse out of the circuit.

After searching endlessly I still haven't found the other end! With all the rain this week I probably won't have much time cruising so I will keep looking. Once again thanks.
