Ford GalaxieThe Ford Galaxie has effortless V8 performance, bulletproof mechanicals and great value make 30-year old Galaxie increasingly desirable with true-blue collectors. Size has everything to do with the on-going appeal of these cars. Although the newest are now more than 30 years old, a well-maintained Galaxie offers comfort and performance to rival cars half its age.
Alright, I was wantn to know if anybody here knows how to tear a dash apart. I wanna pull my cluster out because all my interior light don't come on and I want to see if its the bulbs or some cut wires. I know my glove box socket is good because I already checked it with my test light. And all my fuses are good n when I probe'em with my test light I'm gettin power on both sides. Anyways if anybody can give me a play-by-play on how to tear the dash out I would greatly appreciate it. Plus I have the select-a-air unit under my dash. My vehicle is a 1963 galaxie 500 with swing away column.
I got similar problems. I got a 67 Galaxie 500. I shorted a wire somewhere behind my dash from my ignition. Fuses are fine (dammit). Not looking forward to dismantling my dash to get at one frigging wire. Let me know if you have better luck, I'll be interested to hear how it goes for you.
You will have to pull the black cover just below the speed-o and remove all the screws and the cluster will pull out a little ways, then unscrew the speed-o cable from the back. This should allow you to pull it out far enough to see in the back, to get all the way out you will have to unplug the lights and wiring from the gages.

That's what I was tryn and when I got the cluster all undone from the front the cluster would only move far enough forward for me to undo the side gages. I don't have enough room in the middle of the cluster to undo the speedo cable. And I don't want to get to rough and break the cable. So do I just angle and work with the cluster to ease it out? But ur sayn I should have enough cable length to pull the cluster out a wee-bit and undo the cable right?
you might have to crawl up under the car and the dash and pull up any slack you might have, so you can get the cluster far enough forward to get the speedo cable off...
Aight guys well after much probn n stuff. I found that all my cluster bulbs go to a blue with red strip wire. So I traced'em and found a single wire leadn to the fuse block under the dash. I tied to pull the wire connection but it broke. So I applied power to this wire and my cluster lite up. So I guess somewhere the power wire is broken? Crazy how after 46 years the same oe bulbs still light up?!?!?!? Hahah anyways for now I'm just gonna wire that wire with a constant power and put a switch in the middle so I can command it on or off when I need'em. Ill let ya know what else happens. Also I found a ground broken at the column. I can't find what it ground but its a factory ground because the wire has fomoco stamped on it. Anybody have an idea what it might ground? Its screwd on to the base of the column.
