Ford GalaxieThe Ford Galaxie has effortless V8 performance, bulletproof mechanicals and great value make 30-year old Galaxie increasingly desirable with true-blue collectors. Size has everything to do with the on-going appeal of these cars. Although the newest are now more than 30 years old, a well-maintained Galaxie offers comfort and performance to rival cars half its age.
I picked up a very clean '65 Galaxie 4-door hardtop. From what I can tell so far it appears to be original. I want to give the engine and trans a make over. One option is to rebuild the 352 and cruise-o-matic to original specs. However I would prefer to put some more power under the hood and connect it to a manual trans. Can the 352 be boored and/or stroked to get some extra power? I have read information regarding a 352, that when boored, it can create issues surrounding the thin cylinder walls. Do you know how a 427/428 would fit in this car's engine bay? Another size engine? If so, is it something worth spending the money on? What tranny would fit up nicely to that? I would imagine the cost of building a bigger engine and finding a manual tranny would be significantly more than rebuilding what I already have. Any info or other suggestions would be greatly appriciated.
You can go with a 390 but the 352 you have is the same block. I have mine bored out .090 for a bore of 4.090" and 370 ci. The 390 is 4.050" but with a longer stroke of 3.78 vs 3.5. So technically the 352 can be bored out .050... throw in 390 crank and rods and you have a 390 and don't have to buy another block.
Take a look at this chart and it will give you all of the specifics

Hey old man!! What is this paw kit that u speak of?!?!? Is it a complete rebuild kit. Because I'm want'n to punch out my 390 and end up with a 427. I want forged internals so I can spray.
Hey old man!! What is this paw kit that u speak of?!?!? Is it a complete rebuild. stroker kit??? Because I'm want'n to punch out my 390 and end up with a 427. I want some good ass quality forged internals so I can spray.
Also interested in this PAW kit. Just curious..... will the 427, 428, 429 heads bolt to the 332-390 FE blocks? Besides of course the SOHC's. Are the flow characteristics any better?
