Need to convert my 67 Galaxie to a C6. Please help! Thanks!
Ford GalaxieThe Ford Galaxie has effortless V8 performance, bulletproof mechanicals and great value make 30-year old Galaxie increasingly desirable with true-blue collectors. Size has everything to do with the on-going appeal of these cars. Although the newest are now more than 30 years old, a well-maintained Galaxie offers comfort and performance to rival cars half its age.
Need to convert my 67 Galaxie to a C6. Please help! Thanks!
I need to convert my 67 over to a C6 Transmission – the Ford-o-matic 3 speed that came with the car, was in bad shape with the internal hard parts, and the case was damaged, and the costs to rebuild the transmission were going to be very, very high.
I had a big-block C6 built instead, which is done, and now I need to find all the correct shifter/kickdown linkages for a column shift car.
Has anyone ever done this conversion or have any ideas where I can get all the shifer linkages for this conversion? Is there anything I need to know on the cross-member side (modifications, mounts, etc?) What about cooler lines?
Any help or advice on what to get would be greatly apprecaited. I'd love to get this car done over the winter so I can drive next summer!
Again, this is to convert a 67 Galaxie Convertible, with a 390 and a Column shift Ford-O-Matic 3-speed over to a C6.
He should be able to use the same linkage, your right it's adjustable.
I haven't changed a thing in the linkage (other then a Lokar kick down cable) when I went from the original 289/FX, to 460/C6, to 302/AOD and now 302/C6.
Corellian, just having a "big block" C6 doesn't mean much and could still be wrong. Was this C6 from another FR (390/428) engine? If it came from a 429/460 is will not bolt up to the trans.
The one thing Ford really messed up on was all the different bell housing patterns, at least GM didn't do so bad with only 2 different types, one for all Chevy engines, big small, 6 banger, and one for all V8s and 6sixs from all other divisions.
Oh yeah, you'll need the slip yolk from the C6 too and have it welded on your new drive shaft.
