Ford Galaxie The Ford Galaxie has effortless V8 performance, bulletproof mechanicals and great value make 30-year old Galaxie increasingly desirable with true-blue collectors. Size has everything to do with the on-going appeal of these cars. Although the newest are now more than 30 years old, a well-maintained Galaxie offers comfort and performance to rival cars half its age.

Unless things have changed, no one made air shocks for the pre 65 Galaxie. I worked in a parts house years ago, and was asked that same thing alot. And I own a 64 and I could not get them for myself. However I did once have a guy come in and go though my shocks and got a set to work on a 62 Galaxie, I wanted to know what he hd used, so I took a look at his car and got the #'s off the shocks and they were for a 65 Galaxie, he had mounted them upside down to fit.

The only company I know of making airshocks right now is Tenneco and maybe some Arvin inventory still floating around. Neither one is what I'd consider a quality shock. KYB's are decent, have you checked to see if they have something?

Airsprings (helper bags) would work much better and last longer, check out Air Lift for those.

Not all shocks can be mounted upside down, namely twin tube gas-charged type. Monotubes can be mounted upside down, twin-tube non-gas (hydraulic) don't work any way you mount them...

Sorry, I did not say that mounting them upside down was VERY bad idea, but it is a bad idea, not something that I would do.
