Ford Galaxie The Ford Galaxie has effortless V8 performance, bulletproof mechanicals and great value make 30-year old Galaxie increasingly desirable with true-blue collectors. Size has everything to do with the on-going appeal of these cars. Although the newest are now more than 30 years old, a well-maintained Galaxie offers comfort and performance to rival cars half its age.

Default New Project...

Well, I finally pulled the cover off my old car. Now that I am back in the area, its time to dig in to her.

Facts:
Year - 1965
Make - Ford
Model - Custom 500
Engine - 240ci Inline 6
Transmission - C4
Rearend - 9"
Gears - 3.00

Ideas:
Short Term - I am going to replace the 240 with a 351W, backed by a C6. Good thing about that is I'm pulling the whole shebang out of a '84 F150, and its bolt in, except for the radiator, and motor mounts Full Autometer gauges. Shocks and springs. Dual exhaust.

Long Term - Bucket seats up front. 3.73 gears out back. Strip and repaint, get some new carpet, and replace the rusty, dented rear quarter panel, and trunk floor

The car has been sitting for 7 years, and amazingly enough has no more rust on it then when I left it to go into the Corps. It got stolen in '99 and hit in the rear quarter panel, as you can see. Beyond that the body is in perfect shape, factory undercoated, so no rust in the floor boards. I think it'll be fun

Anyone else got any other cool ideas? Nothing too radical, now.

I second that... post pics here. Go advanced and then attach your pics. You might have to make them smaller, but at least we can see them. Everything you said so far sounds good, but might have some more ideas after seeing pics.

Why not just leave the c4?240/351w have same bellhousing bolt pattern.C4 takes less hp to turn.
