Ford LightningThe Lightning is based on the short-wheelbase, standard cab, flareside, two-wheel drive version of the F-150; in other words, the littlest one. Under the hood goes a 5.4-liter SOHC V-8, suitably pumped up with a supercharger and intercooler, and cranking out a not-inconsiderable 380 horsepower at 4,750 rpm and 450 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,250 rpm.
Did your lightning survive the winter? My lightning survived it's 1st winter in ND. I replaced the stock tires with performance snow tires mounted a set of wheels put together from used spares. Added about 300# of weight in the back. I had no problems going through snow up to 4" deep. I did have to install a higher temp engine thermostat in Dec for the sub zero tempatures because the engine wouldn't get hot enough for the heater to work. It also didn't like starting in tempatures below -10 degrees, but always started after 3-4 attempts.
The Dodge Ram SRT 10 currently holds the world record for fastest street/factory pickup truck with the Guinness Book of World Records.so no the ford lighting is not better or faster than the dodge.

Just adding some weight and good snow tires will make most vehicles drivable in the snow. I know a Corvette C5 owner who drives his car all year long and bought special rims and tires for it in the Winter.
Good luck.

All pickups have lousy traction in the snow unless you add a lot of weight in the bed. Further back is better, but somehow you have to prevent it from sliding around.
Winter tires are better than snow tires (especially on hard pack and ice), which are better than all-season tire.

Dont know what funny cig khooper smoked but his fact was totally irrelavant and to boot the srt has 120hp advantage weighing only 300 pounds more so naturally the lightning is at a disadvantge, but as far as the topic goes i have a 06' f-350 powerstroke and she's pretty bad in the snow soley due to the power to (lack of weight over rear axle) ratio, so considering the lighting is essentially a mustang with a bed on it i think it's ill advised to partake in such activities. good luck though
