Ford LTD The LTD designation is considered by some an abbreviation of "Luxury Trim Decor" and by others as a limited body style classification for the Galaxie. There is evidence that it originally stood for "Lincoln Type Design." It was to be called the Galaxie 500 LTD, in reference to the introduction of the Chevrolet Caprice and the similar Dodge Monaco and Polara.

Question LTD II restoration....

It's time to restore my husbands two tone blue LTD II. The biggest problem is finding the stripe kit...poor baby needs a major paint job. The original tires are Uniroyals, which are still on there but dry rotted. Everything else is in great shape, the car has been babied to say the least....less than 30,000 miles on her. I am looking to restore her to original he on the other hand is not wanting to spend the money . I say....can't take it with you !! Any help would be great.

best bet would be to check EBAY throughly!! for stripe kits

otherwise look up a local DECAL shop in town that puts custom decals on cars and take them SEVERAL good pics of the car with the original stripes on it and they can make replicas

He wanted to sell her..but no...I love this car. We got her running for my son's high school graduation/18th birthday. So of course took the girl out for a run...dry rotted tires and all. Made me think I was 18 again !!
