Which brakes to use on 1973 LTD

I don't know much about brakes, so I'm looking for some direction and experience. I have a 1973 LTD with a 400cid engine. I just got it running after sitting in a carport for the last five years. So now I need some brakes.

I do plan on rebuilding the engine to hopefully get 350 horsepower out of it, but am going to run it like it is for a while. I do plan to upgrade wheels and tires soon.

Should I upgrade the whole brake system or should I just replace shoes/pads and whatever parts may be bad with the current system? Either way, how do I know which brand shoes/pads to use. Are there any that are better or worth paying more money than the cheaper ones at AutoZone?

Any advice from those who have "been there" would be appreciated.

I'd recommend Raybestos or Wagner for your brake pads. Preferably something that matches OE quality. A ceramic pad isn't needed, a semi-metallic pad should be fine. I would also recommend having your rotors either turned or replaced. Calipers may not be out of the question either. Brake hoses should also be replaced. For your rear drums I would suggest getting new wheel cylinders, springs, hardware, adjusters, and shoes. Also consider having your drums turned.
